The System
What is Salik?
Salik, meaning "open" or "clear" in Arabic, is Dubai's electronic toll road system. Launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in 2007, it uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to automatically deduct fees as you pass through toll gates.
There are no toll booths, barriers, or coins required. Drivers attach a Salik tag to their windshield, and the system ensures traffic flows freely across major highways and bridges.

Register & Buy Tag
Purchase a Salik tag from petrol stations or online. Attach it to your windshield below the rearview mirror.
Top Up Balance
Activate your account and add credit via the Salik app, website, or recharge cards available across the city.
Drive Through
Drive through any toll gate at normal highway speeds. The system automatically scans your tag.
Auto Deduction
The toll fee (AED 4) is deducted from your prepaid balance instantly. No stopping required.
